The Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group III in 2021 will be held at Hai Dang Tennis Club in Tay Ninh City, Tay Ninh Province, from June 16th to 19th 2021.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has decided to select Vietnam as the host nation for Asia/Oceania Zone Group III in 2021. Accordingly, Hai Dang Tennis Club in Tay Ninh city, Tay Ninh province will be the host city for this event.
According to the charter of Davis Cup, Vietnam (ranked 71) will join with 8 other national teams to compete, including: Hong Kong (68), Syria (76), Sri Lanka (78), Kuwait (110), Qatar (111), Jordan (120), Pacific Oceania (122) and Malaysia (127).
Although Vietnam has yet to identify direct competitors, because the ITF and Davis Cup Committee have not announced the official draw schedule, but according to ITF's national rankings, Vietnam has many ability will be ranked 2nd seed if current rank has not changed from now until draw.
At the event in 2018 at My Dinh Complex, Vietnam won the championship without losing any round. However, in 2019, due to a change in the Davis Cup format, Vietnam need to play again in Group III in Singapore and was promoted to Group II after winning the championship excellently with 4 victories.
In 2020, Vietnam lost 0-4 to Morroco in the World Group II play-offs, which took place from March 6 to 7, 2020 in Morroco and had to compete in Asia/Oceania zone group III in 2021 with the goal of promotion to world group II by 2022.
The members of the Vietnam Men's National Tennis Team are the best tennis players of the country: Ly Hoang Nam, Trinh Linh Giang, Le Quoc Khanh, Pham Minh Tuan, Nguyen Van Phuong, Vu Ha Minh Duc, Nguyen Dac Tien , is led by the captain Truong Quang Vu. Currently, the Vietnamese players are still in the training phase, and around May 2021, the final list of Davis Cup team’s members will be officially announced.
